News from the Front

Poor little lad in the grocery cart.
The cashier admires his freckles,
But he knows she doesn’t care.
And if she weren’t self-absorbed,
She’d really notice him there,
Notice his priceless frown,
His hands turned down,
The approaching sound of history.
